Dr. Shaw has more than 30 years' experience working at the intersection of international development and higher education. Since 2005, he has led AIT Extension, the executive education and continuing professional education arm of AIT, which organizes around 100 courses every year focused on capacity building and sustainable development in Asia. He also works as the Deputy Director of the Regional Resource Center for Asia and the Pacific, an AIT center that provides technical support on environmental capacity building for national and local governments, UN agencies and other stakeholders in the region. Since 2005, he has been a member of the senior management team at AIT.
Originally trained as a lawyer at King's College, London, he has higher degrees in international and comparative education from Manchester and Sussex universities. Before joining AIT, Jon worked on a World Bank-funded capacity development project in Shanghai, and in boys' secondary schools in Sudan. Dr. Shaw's areas of expertise include leadership development; creating and maintaining high-performance teams; developing successful business units; leading strategic change management; practical problem solving; designing capacity-building programs; facilitating learning processes human resource development; strategic human resource management; sustainable development; program management; and international development.
