Professional Development Training Course on: Improvement and Management of National Accounts Statistics; 12 – 23 December 2016

This 2 weeks Customized Professional Development Training Course on Improvement and Management of National Accounts Statistics is to be conducted for 7 Officials of National Economic Accounts Directorate (NAD), National Planning Commission, The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia during 12 – 23 December 2016.

The National Planning Commission of Ethiopia is prepared a project document with the help of the World Bank’s technical team to improve the statistical database of international standard which will help the Government in more effective planning and project design. As per the program document the main components of the project are designed to support the implementation of activities drawn from these strategic themes of the National Statistical Development Strategy (NSDS), namely: (a) enhancing advocacy and use of statistics; (b) methodological improvements and statistical modernization; and (c) capacity building (organization and infrastructure) in the National Statistical System (NSS). 

The NAD is currently prepared to launch the task of rebasing the current national accounts statistics with a new base year based on the supply and use framework, it is of paramount importance that the technical capacity of compilers should be upgraded through such capacity building trainings and best practices experience sharing.  

In this regard to achieve the goal of preparing international standard National Accounts System  , Central Statistical Agency (CSA) collaborated with AIT Extension of the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand to organize the training for 7 experts on Improvement and Management of National Accounts Statistics from 12 – 23 December 2016.

Objective: The main objective of the training course is to provide officers from National Economic Accounts Directorate (NAD) of Ethiopia an opportunity to improve capacity their knowledge and skill in National Accounts Statistics and Economic and Financial Statistic which will greatly beneficial for NAD and overall for the country to effectively plan and implement their projects. The training course focuses on enhancing the knowledge and skills of the participants through practical examples to have a clear understanding.  Some of the key issues to be addressed during the training program are:

  • Rebasing of the National Accounts Statistics
  • Preparation of Supply and Use Table based on UN-SNA 2008
  • Systems Establishment and Compilation and Aggregation of Regional/State Accounts in a Federal System.

This program is held during 12 – 23 December 2016 at Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok
