This Six (06) days each professional development program is on Essential Office Management Skills for the professionals of Bhutan Power Corporation Limited. Bhutan Power Corporation Limited was launched as a public utility on the 1st of July 2002 with the mandate of distributing electricity throughout the Country and also providing transmission access for generating stations for domestic supply as well as export. One of BPC’s basic mandate was to not only ensure that electricity is available to all our citizens but to also make sure that it is reliable, adequate and above all within the means of all consumers.
BPC started with 1193 employees with 967 employees joining from DOP and 226 employees from CHPC. BPC is the largest corporation in the Kingdom of Bhutan with a human resource size equal to almost 9% of the total Civil Services strength. It is the sole provider of electricity in the Kingdom with operations spread in 19 Dzongkhags. For economic growth to take place sufficient supply of electricity is an important prerequisite and our mandate provides a direct link to achieving the national goal of Gross National Happiness.
BPC sent a few groups to AIT Extension earlier. This year 2016, starting from August, BPC already sent 6 groups on different subject areas. These 2 groups will be the 7th and 8th group.
Objective:
It is expected that, at the end of the course participants will be able to:
- enhance knowledge on team building, interpersonal skills in a team and its importance in the organization
- gain insights on different aspects of leadership as a leader in office administration as well as managing the daily work
- appreciate and instill the importance of communication in the office environment and improve the different types of communication as means of improving the relationship
- develop an understanding on managing conflict in an effective way
- develop skills in dealing with difficult situation and difficult people
- familiarize with the office management tools
- enhance and improve the skills of using modern office tools, both hardware as well as software
TIMING: The training program will be held in 2 batches:
Batch I: 24 – 31 October 2016 (excluding travel time). The participants will arrive at AIT on 24 October 2016 and leave on 01 November 2016.
Batch II: 31 October – 07 November 2016 (excluding travel time). The participants will arrive at AIT on 30 October 2016 and leave on 08 November 2016.

PARTICIPANTS: The participants for this course will be selected by Bhutan Power Corporation. It is expected that there will be ten (10) participants for each of the batches. The participants would be drawn from secretarial, administrative and junior managers of Bhutan Power Corporation.
