Professional development program on Electricity distribution system and customer services (batch II 21 november – 2 december 2016 Batch III 5 – 16 december 2016)

This two-week course is designed for officials responsible in managing the distribution of electricity, implementing the measurement of its distribution, taking care of the customer service, and planning for generating alternative energy.

Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited, commonly known as DESCO, is a Public Limited Company which distributes electricity at the Northern parts of Dhaka City Corporation area. The company was created on November 1996 under the Companies Act 1994 as a Public Limited Company. The company is now under the Power Division of the Bangladesh Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources and serving a total number of 604,304 consumers as of 31 December 2013.

Objective: The course will provide a comprehensive overview from monitoring and measuring Electricity Distribution until the customer service implemented by Electricity Generating Authority in Thailand (EGAT) and Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) in Thailand. Several class room sessions are arranged to give fundamental knowledge on the said topics, followed by study visits to see the teal implementation. In addition to that, there will be session on generating and implementing solar panel as alternative energy.

  These two batches of training programs are part of our series of five training programs planned based on our agreement between AIT Extension and DESCO. The previous three training program conducted were:

  • Human Resources Management Batch I
  • Electricity Distribution System and Customer Services Batch I
  • Human Resources Management Batch II

PARTICIPANTS:Twelve participants for each batch course will be selected by the authority of the respective companies. In addition to these participants, there will be a supervisory team coming toward the end of each program to evaluate the program’s delivery.
