Professional development program on Design, construction, maintenance and trouble-shooting of gas measurement instruments 3rd – 16th November 2015

The training course aims to facilitate in developing skills and techniques in designing, constructing, maintaining and trouble-shooting gas measurement instruments. The participants will be exposed to the various concepts and applications which will be supplemented by intensive hands-on sessions.

This two-week course is designed for officials responsible in assisting and contributing to the technical functions on daily basis of Bangladesh Gas Fields Limited (BGFCL) and Jalalabad Gas Transmission and Distribution System Limited (JGTDSL).  

BGFCL derives its origin from Pakistan Shell Oil Company, which was formed in Karachi, Pakistan on May 30, 1956. With emergence of Bangladesh and promulgation of Petroleum Act, 1974 the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) bought all the shares of the Pakistan Shell Oil Company with effect from August 09, 1975. The Company was renamed as Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Ltd. (BGFCL) on September 12, 1975.

To meet the growing demand, JGTDSL was formed on December 1, 1986 under the company Act with an authorized capital of Tk.150 crores. The objective was to help developing the socio-economic condition of the people of Sylhet region. The Company has been playing an important role since its inception in reducing dependency on imported fuel, saving of foreign currency and maintenance of ecological balance through construction of pipeline, installation and maintenance of related facilities to ensure uninterrupted transmission and distribution of gas throughout the franchise area.

TIMING: The training program will be held during 03 – 16 November 2015 (excluding travel time). The participants will arrive at Bali on 03 November 2015 and leave from Surabaya on 17 November 2015.

VENUE: Bali and Surabaya, Indonesia

CLIENT/DONOR: Bangladesh Gas Fields Limited (BGFCL) and

Jalalabad Gas Transmission and Distribution System Limited (JGTDSL).

PARTICIPANTS: The participants for this course will be selected by the authority of the respective companies. Twenty four officials, including the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Petrobangla, Bangladesh Gas Fields Limited and Jalalabad Gas Fields Limited are expected to participate in this program.
