MoU Signed between AIT and Civil Service Commission (CSC), Republic of Maldives

Civil Service Commission (CSC), Republic of Maldives signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in AIT Campus, Bangkok, Thailand on July 25, 2011 to develop cooperation between AIT and CSC for the capacity building of human resources in Maldives and to nurture a fruitful long lasting working relationship between the two parties.

Mr. Mohamed Fahmy Hassan, Chairman of CSC and Prof. Sudip Kumar Rakshit, Vice President Research, AIT signed the MoU with presence of representatives from both sides, namely Ms. Khadeeja Adam, Member of Commission, CSC, Mr. Abdulla Jihad, Commissioner, CSC and Ms. Mariyam Zeeniya, Assistant Lecturer, CSC; and Dr. Jonathan Shaw, Director, AIT Extension (AITE), Dr. Amararatne Yakupitiyage, Associate Professor, School of Environment, Resources & Development (SERD), Mr. Fazle Karim, Head, Information Technology & Engineering, AITE, Dr. Faiz Shah, Head, Development Management, AITE, Mr. Voravate Chonlasin, Head, Public Sector Capacity Building, AITE , Dr. Zakir Hossain, Head, Agriculture, Environment & Resources, AITE, Dr. Sundar Venkatesh, Advisor, AITE, Ms. Niramol Ponvilai, Sr. Program Officer, Administration, AITE, Mr. Tenzin Rabgyal, Sr. Program Officer, External Relations & Communications (ERCO), Mr. Bahul Shrestha, Programs Officer, Client Management & Marketing, AITE and Mr. Faisal Alih, Program Officer, Development Management, AITE respectively.

The MoU signed between the two sides is expected to enhance exchange of information and determine strategy within each scope of function. Some of the collaborative activities of mutual interest include: training activities, professional degree / certificate programs, staff exchange programs, visit of AIT experts to Maldives for management / training consultancy, conducting research relevant to Maldives, joint proposal development for funding from donor agencies. Dr. Jonathan Shaw, Director, AITE expressed his happiness to be a part of the first MoU.
