In most of the communities, be it urban, semi-urban or rural, the municipalities are falling short of providing adequate supply of water, treating sewage and processing and disposing the solid waste generated. There is a pressure from government as well as public side to provide better basic facilities for water supply and sanitation. The present training course is an effort in this direction. It starts with self-assessment of present needs and the status of present environmental infrastructure. Then, requirements are planned in the form of facilities to be constructed or upgraded. Next, all units are designed and basic drawings and calculations are done. The actual construction takes time and adequate budget for implementation. Finally, once commissioned proper schedule of daily operations and preventative maintenance is compulsory for long and satisfactory services of built structures.
COURSE OUTLINE
The training course aims to include the following themes with particular emphasis on planning, design and implementation of environmental infrastructure –
a) Assessment of needs with regards to a given municipal area
b) Planning of Water Supply Scheme, Sewage Treatment Plant and Solid Waste Treatment and Disposal Systems
c) Design of Water Supply Scheme, Sewage Treatment Plant and Solid Waste Treatment and Disposal Systems
d) Construction of Water Supply Scheme, Sewage Treatment Plant and Solid Waste
Treatment and Disposal Systems
e) Operation and Maintenance of Water Supply Scheme, Sewage Treatment Plant and Solid
Waste Treatment and Disposal Systems

EXPERTS & COURSE COORDINATORS
Most of the experts shall be from AIT and IIT Bombay. Few experts from other premier institutes, industry and field could be invited for delivering super-specialized lectures in various sessions, provided the response for the course is excellent. Each session would be followed by interactive sessions on the subject matter. Lots of case studies are the main feature of the present course. There could be a half day field visit on the last day of the course.

Accommodation can be arranged by AIT at its AIT Conference Center (AITCC) or in a suitable Hotel
in Bangkok, or else, participants can arrange their own accommodation and AIT can assist in booking or facilitating on payment as per the actuals and with advance request.
