AIT Extension has been awarded with the organization of a three-month capacity development project for CDD India staff on IWRM innovations and urban resilience. The project encompasses the design and delivery of two virtual (online LIVE) capacity development training programs on (i) “IWRM Innovations and Sustainability”, (ii) “Building Resilient Cities: Urban Planning and Climate Change Adaptation” 60 hours each and a week-long in-person training and exposure visit to Thailand on (iii) “Innovative Approaches to Wastewater Treatment and Urban Resilience” for over 30 engineers and planners from the client organization. CDD India (Consortium for DEWATS and Dissemination, India) is a not-for-profit organization, that innovates, demonstrates, and disseminates decentralized nature-based solutions for the conservation, collection, treatment and reuse of water resources and management of sanitation facilities, having its principal office at Bengaluru, India.
The aim of the staff capacity development programs is to enhance the knowledge and understanding of CDD engineers and planners in designing sustainable, innovative, and smart solutions with the concept of zero discharge and more resilient and livable cities for all inhabitants. The overall training objective is to enlighten and equip CDD and other government officials, with advanced knowledge and a holistic understanding of cutting-edge wastewater treatment methods, urban resilience strategies, and practical applications, fostering a multidisciplinary approach to addressing the challenges of modern urban environments. The participants will be taught and led by the renowned faculty members, professors, academicians and researchers of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and practitioners from industry partners and is being coordinated by AIT Extension.
The project implementation commenced with an official opening on 21 November 2023 for the two virtual training programs and will end on 03 March 2024 with the closing of in-person training at AIT.
