AITE Completes 19th Fredskorpset Preparatory Course in Asia: 1 – 20 October 2011

AIT Extension successfully completed the “19th Fredskorpset Preparatory Course in Asia” which was held on 1 – 20 Oct, 2011. Twenty-one young professionals from seven countries comprising Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam had attended the program. 

The program was the twelfth preparatory course organized by AIT Extension in collaboration with Fredskorpset, Norway since May 2003. Fredskorpset, the Norwegian volunteer service, facilitates exchanges of young professionals between Norway and countries of the South. Participants live and work in another country for months, developing exchanges between partner institutions in Norway and South nations. Exchange programs are intended to enable young professionals to use their skills in working for a partner employer in another country. In the 19th preparatory program, participants came from Cambodian Rural Development Team (CRDT), Sunlabob Renewable Energy, SODARC-Centre for Peacebuilding and Reconciliation Promotion (CPRP), Asian Women in Cooperative Development Forum (AWCF), Clean Air Sri Lanka, Center for Agricultural Extension Volunteers (CAEV), among others. The course covered global and regional development issues, effective interpersonal and cross-cultural communication practices, and health & personal security traits.
