Consultancy focus
Furqan deals with different engineering and management related projects. Furqan’s interest lies primarily in disaster risk management and water resources management in developing countries with a focus on South Asia. The focus on developing countries Furqan finds particularly interesting because there is (usually) less data to work with, while the need for risk management and appropriate methodologies that can be applied within these specific contexts is very high.
As an engineering consultant Furqan is working with various clients to provide engineering advice and technical solutions on different projects. He is directly involved in a range of tasks, including coordinating teams, preparing documentation, and developing project plans. To be successful as an engineering consultant, it is necessary to have a good knowledge of all areas of engineering in order to analyze different projects and issues.
Furqan experience is to deal with a diverse array of project stakeholders, including funding agencies, executing agencies, project engineers/consultants, and technical staff, to brief project planning, budgeting, and resource management efforts, and the status of project execution and deliverables to facilitate the identification of existing and/or new work needed to accomplish the project goals and objectives.
Career Highlights
Currently leading the World Bank funded different consulting projects related to Disaster Risk Reduction and Data Center Establishment for Water Resources Management under Sindh Resilience Project. The approx. the value of the projects is USD 2.5 Million.
Technical Support in project planning and soft component development to the Government of Pakistan for different development projects funded by IDAs.
Design and develop the curriculum on Disaster Risk Reduction for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority of Sindh, Pakistan under the capacity building program for government officials at provincial and district level.
An External expert reviewed the curriculum to launch the BS in Disaster Management at the Center of Disaster Management, University of Management & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan.
He also engaged in the technical committee of different national/state level government organizations for the development of national action plans related to water resources management, disaster risk reduction and curriculum development.
As a Technical Coordinator for Energy Services Delivery Management & Technology (EDSMAT) design, developed and coordinated more than 15 training programs related to Energy and Management for 400 engineers from different electricity distribution companies of Pakistan under the World Bank funding.
Coordinated & Organized different United Nations Summer Schools programs in AIT Extension for different participants from Asia Pacific Region.
Directly involved in different capacity building and consultancy projects proposal development for different funding agencies such as Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank, etc.
Technical Member of Sentinel Asia for different projects in the Asia Pacific Region and working with different stakeholders in the South East and South Asian region.
