Course Brief: Sustainable coastal community development and ecosystem management has become an integral part of any coastal zone management program/project and local development plan for coastal states or districts. Being the most dynamic area of the earth, the coastal area in any country is witnessing overwhelming pressures on its resources and hence putting the local community in high/extinction risk.
This course aims to enhance participants learning opportunity on latest development of coastal ecosystems management and sustainable livelihoods practices in coastal areas. The course covers seminars on sustainable coastal resources utilization, solutions to conflict resource users, and community participatory planning and implementation. The exposure visits to the projects working on research and study on coastal area development and rehabilitation, technology transfer, community-based co-management and conservation, alternative income generation and livelihoods development and institutional capacity building for coastal communities.
