Course Brief: This course will provide essential lessons in basic public policy making, and stakeholder participation for a comprehensive public discourse. Biotech policy analysis will be conducted using a variety of policy instruments developed by various country governments and regional and international organizations involved in biotechnology capacity building. The course will discuss options for developing policies for bio-innovation.
Course contents cover policy tools for trans-boundary disease management, role of public policies in biotech development, incentives for bio-innovation policies in Asia, societal issues, role of regulatory policies in the implementation of GM crops, policy frameworks for biotech food safety standards in Asia, general technology management issues in biotechnology management, mobilizing stakeholder participation public policy making, performance standards to ensure regulatory effectiveness and institutional challenges faced by Asian Countries for technology management.
